Senior Style: Brianna

Did another senior style session last weekend with Brianna. This session we stayed local in Thornton and played around near the railroad tracks. It really doesn’t matter where you are, there is always some place cool to take pictures.

Now seriously, who would have thought that an old building could be so cool? I wish I could go back to the farm where I spent some of my childhood to take some senior pics.  There was a 4 story abandoned hotel on the property that would have been so incredibly cool to shoot at. I wonder what it’s like now?

I love it. I mean what better way to spend my summer than photographing weddings and seniors? Weddings are fun and the seniors are a blast. When I was in high school no one could have told me that I would be a photographer 20 year in the future and that I would be doing senior sessions and loving them. LOL

Senior Style: Jessica

We went up to Boulder the other evening to do a session with Jessica. We just worked our way up the alley off Pearl Street. Had a great time and got some great images.

Alleys are great because they just have so much texture. This is true especially in areas where the buildings are older as you can see here.

Nothing like an air conditioning grate for some interesting shots. This one was just off the Pearl Street mall in Boulder.

Thanks Jessica, it was awesome shooting with you.

Tips: Magazines to view

I went over to the local B&N today to look for some inspiration. I love looking at bridal mags but also love looking at other magazines like design mags, print mags, etc to get ideas. Some have amazing photography in them.

So with that in mind I want to pass on a few mags that would be good looks for you brides that are in your design stage of planning.

Weddingstar ~ This is a mag that is phat with stuff. It’s like a catalog of ideas. I even saw this wedding cake topper in it.

Munaluchi Bridal ~ Really neat bridal mag for women of color. I want to get a bride in this mag. If you think you’d be a fit let me know, I want to do this.

Wedding Cakes ~ another spot to get great ideas, this time for your cake. There are some amazing cakes in this mag.

And for those of us here in the Rocky mountains there is Rocky Mountain Bride Colorado. This is a great place to see various venues as is the Perfect Wedding Guide, which has some great venues and vendors, quite a few of whom I have worked with.

Hope this is a bit of a help and that you find something that you just adore for your wedding because you found it through this post.

P.S. Hope you all have a great weekend! It’s hot and sunny out there so don’t forget your sunscreen!

Senior Style: Cynthia

Went out and did a shoot this weekend with the lovely Cynthia. Beautiful girl, fun to shoot, what more could a photographer want? We started downtown where I found some incredible graffiti. I look for this stuff on a regular basis to find new stuff. After that we went out to Morrison because there is an incredible little rock formation right outside of town near Red Rocks Amphitheater that is just awesome. Here is a little sneak peak for the shoot.

Wedding: Heather and John at Arrowhead Golf Club

Shot the wedding of Heather and John recently down at the Arrowhead Golf Club. If you remember their e-sesh, they are into Jeeping and fishing and we went up to Gold Hill to do their engagement pictures. Way fun by the way…

With all that in mind we came up with this idea of doing a little fly fishing  off the tee during their bridal shots. Something a little different and definitely not the  norm for Arrowhead.

They had some pretty nice cakes too. Done by Masterpiece Cakes. Johns grooms cake was awesome.

The flowers, done by Plum Sage Flowers were beautiful, with lots of white and purple (my favorite color)

And of course what would I do if I couldn’t do some ring shots. Just love doing them.

Of course there was Heathers dress, which looked stunning.

And while we’re on the clothing kick I couldn’t get enough of these shoes. I mean, my god, purple sparkly shoes. Can’t get better than these…

Oh and I should probably put a few of Heather and John huh?

So that is all I’m going to show, but what a fun wedding it was. Heather, John, I wish you the best. See you when you get back from your honeymoon!

Wedding: Kathy + Josh at All-Saints Episcopal

Kathy and Josh got married recently at the All-Saints Episcopal Church in Loveland, Colorado recently and I was lucky enough to get to be part of it. Things started out like most weddings do with folks getting ready.

We went over to Lake Loveland to do some formal pictures but got rained out. I only got [...]

Wedding: Phipps Mansion

As many of you may or may not know, Phipps Mansion has been sold to once again become the private residence of Tom Gill and Scott Miller. I was lucky enough to be asked by my friend and colleague, Lisa Spicola to shoot the wedding of Courtney and Shane there with her last Friday. What a [...]

Random late night stuff.

So I was sitting here watching episodes of Californication on Netflix because I can’t sleep and I thought I would share some random things with my blog not so public.
I looked at my Analytics for the blog and found that since January 1, 2010 this blog has been visited by 707 absolute unique visitors, from [...]

Wedding: Mt. Princeton Hot Springs

Went down to Salida to second shoot a wedding with my friend and associate Kristy Watts of Wild Iris Studio on Saturday. What a fun wedding even though it rained the whole time. The rain sure didn’t dampen anyones spirits that’s for sure. It was perfect. The food was fabulous. The people were fabulous. And fun was [...]

50th anniversary at the Broadmoor

I was invited by Leslie Kesson to go down to the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs to photograph her family for her parents 50th anniversary. What an honor to be able to hang out with 3 generations of a very cool and fun family. Not only that but I got to spend time with a [...]
